Capital Wrestling Club's mission is to provide opportunities with the sport of wrestling to all-comers and to build the culture of the sport around the nation’s capital. As the founding partners of the Capital Wrestling Club, we have been involved with wrestling our entire lives and have grown frustrated with the lack of quality training facilities in the area. It is our belief that if a facility existed solely dedicated to wrestling, the demand would surface, and exceptional results would follow. That day has arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.

Capital Wrestling Club's founders had a vision of a dedicated wrestling facility in the heart of the DMV
Michael Lerner, Co-Founder: Michael Lerner co-founded Capital Wrestling Club in Gaithersburg, MD, bringing over 45 years of wrestling experience to the club. In 2007, he partnered with Dan Fisher to launch the Montgomery Youth Wrestling League, which now supports 13 area teams and up to 300 younger wrestlers each season. A longtime Bethesda resident, Michael brings decades of youth wrestling leadership to CWC's coaching and program development.
Max Meltzer, Co-Founder: Max Meltzer co-founded CWC after a decorated wrestling career, including two Private School Maryland State Championships, a National Prep title, and All-American honors at Harvard University, where he captained the team. Beyond CWC, Max serves as Executive Director of Beat the Streets D.C., a nonprofit using wrestling to support at-risk youth, and works professionally as an SVP as Wealthspire Advisors in Potomac, MC.
Scott Kirsch, Co-Founder: Scott Kirsch co-founded CWC with a mission to build one of the top youth wrestling programs in the Gaithersburg, MD area. An NCAA All-American at George Mason University, Scott holds a 199-25 career record and later coached as a graduate assistant at Syracuse University. Outside of CWC, he is a veteran benefits consultant at NFP.
